Jessica's Review of Fighting the shadows 5 stars ★★★★★

I fell in love with this book from the first page!!! Fighting the shadows is the second book in the On The Ropes series, this one follows the middle Page brother, Flint after he suffered a life altering injury at the end of the first book. The book begins as we see Flint struggling with his new reality, and trying to get his mixed up emotions in check. He reacts in the best way he knows how, which is to push everyone away. My heart broke for the pain he suffered through. In the midst of his voluntary solitude from everyone he cares about, he crashes into Ash Mabie, a beautiful young girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Ash is a sweet girl, with a positive outlook on life even though she hasn't had the best life. She's been trained by her father to become one of the best thieves out there. The attraction between the two is instant and undeniable. But they're relationship has many obstacles to overcome, not just the obvious physical ones either. There were so many times I wished I could have smacked Flint for he's asshole behavior, but in the end he redeemed himself BIG TIME in my eyes. I ended up adoring him, possibly even more than his older brother Till! And Ash, wow, she is such an amazing heroine!! Her witty sense of humor and desire to comfort Flint made her stand out to me. I love this series and cannot wait to see how the youngest brother, Quarry's story plays out. One thing is for sure, Aly Martinez has made a huge fan out of me! I am amazed by her story telling capabilities!!
